Description

Sacred Heart Schools is seeking a Middle School Art Instructor whose chief responsibility will be to work within the scope of the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education to teach Art within a differentiated classroom.   As a member of the Middle School Faculty, this instructor will act as an advisor as well. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Working with the Division Head to execute responsibilities relating to the academic program:  curriculum development and implementation, classroom management (including organization and appearance), student evaluation, grade reporting and parent communication
  • Working with the Division Head and the Director of Student Life to carry out responsibilities relating to student life programs, extra-academic activities, student discipline and plant management
  • Working with the Director of Student Life and Extra-Curricular Activities to aid students in achieving their maximum development and growth, both within and beyond the classroom
  • Actively participating in and supporting the disciplinary guidelines of the School and carrying them out with respect for the integrity of each child
  • Attending liturgies, prayer services, assemblies, faculty meetings, grade level meetings, workshops, in-service meetings, Parent/Teacher Conferences and other school functions, as requested
  • Being ready to fill additional duties when asked (i.e., playground supervision, lunchroom supervision, etc.)
  • Maintaining communication with the administration and the parents regarding each student’s progress
  • Furthering professional development by attending educational meetings and workshops and by regular reading of education journals and materials
  • Making modifications/accommodations for individual student needs as determined by the Child Study Team and the Division Head

Qualifications for a successful candidate:

  • Experience with incorporating additional duties (i.e., playground supervision, lunchroom supervision, etc.)
  • Have a working knowledge of the school technology programs, laptops, iPads, and software necessary for the implementation of the curriculum
  • Maintaining clear, accurate, current classroom records including:
    • Curriculum updates
    • Lesson plans
    • Assessments and rubrics
    • Attendance
    • Student Services Team referrals
  • Advisory experience using Developmental Designs curriculum a plus

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree and Teaching Certificate required.                      
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 2-4 years of classroom teaching experience.
