Sacred Heart Schools is seeking a Middle School Grade 6 Social Studies Teacher whose chief responsibility will be to work within the scope of the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education to teach 6th graders a departmentalized division. This opportunity is for maternity leave coverage and would run from approximately August 24th, 2018 – November 15, 2018.
Essential Job Functions:
- As a member of the Middle School faculty, this teacher will be responsible for:
- Instructing Social Studies curriculum
- Curriculum formation and evaluation
- Leading Advisory
- Communication with students and students’ families
- Student assessment
- Working as an active and collaborative member of grade teams and other Middle School faculty members
- Maintain the most recent Middle School social studies curriculum and pedagogy
- The Middle School Instructor will work within the scope of the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart to achieve these basic teacher expectations:
- Supports – Implements – Models the Goals and Criteria for Sacred Heart Schools.
- Demonstrates appropriate planning and preparation for instruction
- Develops and maintains a classroom atmosphere that inspires learning
- Upholds professional standards of personal presentation, discretion, punctuality, and clear, direct, open communication.
- Appropriately carries out specific assignments, including but not limited to assigned supervision and duties, and other areas as assigned by the Leadership Team.
- Maintains professional credentials and/or certification as defined by our accrediting agency and consistent with band level placement
- Align with other lower school and middle instructors in the other divisions – Lower School, and Middle School for vertical curriculum coordination.
- Provides comprehensive parent communication and education concerning their student’s performance and progress

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Social Studies endorsement preferred.
- Master’s Degree preferred.
- Experience working in a Middle School classroom
