Sacred Heart Schools on Sheridan Road-the Academy of the Sacred Heart for Girls (founded in 1876) and Hardey Preparatory for Boys (founded in 1935)-are independent, Catholic, single-sex elementary schools committed to academic excellence within the context of a Christian community. Founded in Chicago in 1876, Sacred Heart Schools at Sheridan Road (Hardey Preparatory for Boys and Academy of the Sacred Heart for Girls) are independent, Catholic, single-sex elementary schools committed to academic excellence within the context of a Christian, faith-based community.  The educational mission is deeply rooted in the 200-year tradition of the Society of the Sacred Heart and shared with the Network of Sacred Heart Schools located in 30 countries; including 22 schools in the United States.  The essence of this tradition is the total development of each child: spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional and physical. Our girls and boys are taught in single-sex classrooms, but follow a similar curriculum and share in many activities.  With a total enrollment of approximately 700 students, the Schools are organized into three academic divisions each led by a division head.

Position Description

The Technology Integration Coach (TIC) upholds the mission of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools as expressed in the Goals and Criteria and the mission statement of Sacred Heart Schools, Chicago. The TIC is responsible to the Director of Curriculum & Instruction for supporting the faculty in the integration of technology with the school’s curriculum, while ensuring the integrity of the student learning experience.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist educators in the design and development of technology rich lessons and curriculum that improves student learning.
    • Collaborate with teachers to integrate technology into the academic program.
    • Provide current, relevant training and materials for faculty and students.
    • Assist educators with the evaluation and selection of technology tools.
  • Administer Canvas learning management system for the middle school. Includes training and onboarding for students, teachers, and parents; app integration and updates, and course design.
  • Work directly with students for technology support and education, including leading occasional lessons.
  • Support remote and hybrid learning as needed.
  • Create resources and provide support for educators on digital citizenship and responsible use of technology.
  • Conduct professional development for faculty to utilize technology tools (including Canvas, online textbook access, other educational technology tools) to support student instruction; “training the trainer” so faculty can lead and educate students in the use of said tools.
  • Assist with usage, implementation, integration, and helpdesk troubleshooting of Middle School student Chromebooks and applications.
  • Act as a liaison between the technology department and the academic program (faculty and students).
  • Lead the Middle School Tech Team (may involve coding and other skills) and other student-related initiatives.
  • Assist with remote and in-person NWEA-MAP testing.
  • Collaborate with Head of Middle School, Director of Technology, Director of Teaching and Learning, and SK-5 Technology Integration Coach, on technology integration needs and school educational technology vision.
  • Maintain personal commitment to professional growth by remaining current in research and best practices, and engaging in continuous professional learning.
  • Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education required (instructional technology preferred)
  • Master’s Degree in Education preferred (instructional technology preferred)
  • Clear and concise communication skills
  • Organizational and follow-through skills
  • Ability to collaborate well with a team           
  • Experience with K-8 students and adult learners preferred
  • Familiar with educational technology hardware and software, specifically, Canvas and Chromebooks.
