Founded in Chicago in 1876, Sacred Heart Schools at Sheridan Road (Hardey Preparatory for Boys and Academy of the Sacred Heart for Girls) are independent, Catholic, single-sex elementary schools committed to academic excellence within the context of a Christian, faith-based community. The educational mission is deeply rooted in the 200-year tradition of the Society of the Sacred Heart and shared with the Network of Sacred Heart Schools located in 30 countries: including 22 schools in the United States. The essence of this tradition is the total development of each child: spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional and physical. Our girls and boys are taught in single sex classrooms but follow a similar curriculum and share in many activities. With a total enrollment of approximately 700 students, the Schools are organized into three academic divisions each led by a division head.

Position Description

The role of the Student Life Coordinator encompasses many responsibilities that are administered out of the Sacred Heart Schools Student Life Department. This position demands a high level of attention to detail for every aspect of the essential job functions and other responsibilities. This role also provides necessary support to members of the Academic Team and to the Student Life events that occur during the school year. The Student Life Coordinator is directly accountable to the Head of Student Life and works closely with him/her and the Academic Administration to implement the Sacred Heart Schools Goals and Criteria and the philosophy of Sacred Heart education. S/he is responsible for working with a broad range of student life activities, and in particular the Lunch Program and Dismissal/After School. On regular school days, the hours for this position are 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (with flexibility for special events).

Essential Job Functions

Lunch Program

  • Lunchroom Oversight: Provide daily supervision in the lunchroom for all grades.
  • Cafeteria Setup: Ensure the cafeteria is prepared daily for student lunches.
  • Hot Lunch Program Liaison: Act as the contact for the Sacred Heart Hot Lunch Program.
  • Finance Collaboration: Work with the Finance Department to manage Hot Lunch students and order weekly milk supplies.

Student Life Responsibilities

  • Dismissal Supervision: Serve as the lead supervisor during student dismissal.
  • After School Support: Assist in various after-school activities.

Used Uniforms Management

  • Uniform Maintenance: Organize, maintain, and distribute gently used uniforms, including managing uniform exchanges.

Lost and Found Management

  • Item Organization: Maintain and organize lost and found items, checking for names to return belongings to their owners.
  • Collaboration with Community Service: Work with community service to determine the distribution of unclaimed items.

Faculty Support

  • Copies: Manage and coordinate the copying needs of the Academic Faculty, ensuring timely and accurate distribution of materials.

Student Life Programming Support

  • Event Assistance: Support Student Life programming, including Red and White Induction, Talent Show, Gallery Night, Conge, and Field Day.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Other Duties: Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Student Life, which may change to accommodate reasonable requests or other needs.

Qualities and Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of Program Assistance experience or a related administrative support role
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrates integrity and professionalism

  • Highly organized with attention to detail

Pay Range: $40,000 - $45,000 Based on experience
